Regarding the Assembly of Experts Election
To the honorable presence of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei (May his shadow endure):
After greetings and my respects;
In my opinion, if we consider this year’s Assembly of Experts election as the most important political event since the revolution, we have not exaggerated. The upcoming Assembly of Experts election is a valuable opportunity provided by the constitution – the result of the blood of hundreds of thousands of martyrs – for all Iranians to freely express their vote and opinion, whether to solidify your leadership or to remove you from the position.
Undoubtedly, those who forgo their duty and do not participate in the Assembly of Experts election or encourage others not to participate, have deprived themselves of a right, and any future political claims in Iran by them should neither be heard nor accepted.
In line with the intrinsic nature of elections, which presents each participant with at least two different options, every participant in this year’s Assembly of Experts election, regardless of the province, will be able to choose their preferred candidate with equal opportunities afforded to both proponents and adversaries of the leadership, ensuring that we witness no injustice from anyone in this matter.
Concerning this, even if opponents of the leadership seek more opportunities for campaigning, thanks to the measures you have devised, you will not allow supporters of the leadership to monopolize extra opportunities and resources for campaigning, especially through national media.
With this preamble, as we approach the Assembly of Experts election, I request from your presence:
1) Announce to the esteemed Guardian Council and all your admirers across the country that plotting and campaigning for a change in leadership is the natural right of every Iranian citizen and is not a conspiracy to destroy the system and dismantle the foundation of the revolution at the instigation of foreign enemies. Therefore, from now on, prepare the necessary arrangements for an election worthy of the Iranian nation.
2) Like in the 2013 election, reassure the Iranian people that the Assembly of Experts election is also a people’s right, and the Islamic Republic system will avoid turning the election into a sham in any manner.
3) In the remaining time before registration, personally invite, with your blessed tongue, the esteemed Mujtahids and scholars of the seminary who do not accept you to candidly nominate themselves, fear nothing, and announce that the Guardian Council will not disqualify opponents and critics of the leadership in any province.
4) Advise the honorable commanders of the Revolutionary Guards, especially the intelligence unit forces, that elections are a political and social affair and the entire global reputation of Iran depends on it. Tell them that any interference by the Guards in the elections would mean undermining and discrediting the elections.
With the acumen and competence I know you possess, I am confident that this year’s election will be held with unprecedented enthusiasm from the people and in complete tranquility, and with God’s grace, it will be a source of goodness and blessing for all Iranians. I take this opportunity to urge all Iranians to participate responsibly and actively in this year’s election.
Your friend and admirer,
Mohammad Mahdavifar
