To the Honorable Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
His Excellency Ayatollah Khamenei, may his glory last,
After greetings and expressing respect,
The heart-wrenching sorrow from losing an old friend who, as you said, did not abandon loyalty and affection until the last moments of his life is beyond the realm of description.
The people of Iran, particularly the people of Tehran, with their multi-million attendance at the funeral of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, came to express their sympathies to you and deliver a firm blow to the face of global arrogance, which they undoubtedly did.
As you are aware, a group of people attending the funeral demanded, from start to finish and at various points in the ceremony, the release of Mr. Mousavi, Mr. Karroubi, and Mrs. Rahnavard. They have requested for these three individuals, whose ages range from seventy to eighty years, to be freed after six years of solitary confinement and house arrest. Naturally, this matter has depended and still depends on your opinion, but my prediction is that if their demands are not addressed within the next month, the same number of participants, plus more people, will decide to hold this year’s February 11th march in the capital with much more grandeur than in previous years. The matter is up to you.
