The Selfless Farmer (2014)

A woman said to the selfless farmer fair,

Much alike, you and I, in the burdens we bear.

We both shed our garments, in dire plight,

Not by choice, but by necessity’s might.

Our aim was to save others from harm,

Unaware of our struggle, calm and warm.

I turned to this trade, selling my worth,

When my child lay hungry and ill on this earth.

In your hands, old clothes met the flame,

In mine, honor burned for the clink of coin and shame.

They took me, preaching with zealous spark,

They hailed you as a hero, the selfless mark.
