Cherry

Cherry is a fruit that is unmatched in taste, beauty, and properties.

About twenty years ago, we had a neighbor who worked as a mechanic; I can’t recall his name now. If you said “cherry,” it would upset him, and I don’t know why.

Some people who wanted to annoy him would find an excuse to say “cherry” during conversations and would encounter his aggressive reaction, and he would chase them for a distance to strike.

Of course, I never joked with him in such a manner. He treated me with a lot of respect.

Maybe you have also seen people who, for instance, dislike the word “cabbage” or “persimmon” or things like that. I don’t remember ever teasing such individuals. I think you shouldn’t do it either.

You might ask what this has to do with politics.

This morning, I read in the news that several young human rights activists had each been sentenced to seven to fifteen years in prison.

Nowadays, I feel that the judiciary is sensitive to some names and phrases and the institutions associated with them, with “human rights activist” being one of them.

Logic dictates that we should never provoke the anger of any judge. The whip, executioner, and prison are in their hands. Why would you willingly provoke their sensitivity?

If, God forbid, you are really involved in some activities and thus identified and arrested, and in court, if you’re asked and don’t want to lie, instead of using some phrases, say this as I teach you:

1) Instead of saying, “I am a human rights activist,” say, “I am a seeker of humankind’s shares.”

2) Instead of saying, “I am a teachers’ rights activist,” say, “I am a seeker of teaching folk’s shares.”

3) Instead of saying, “I am a workers’ rights activist,” say, “I am a seeker of toilers’ shares.”

4) Instead of saying, “I am a children’s rights activist,” say, “I am a seeker of little ones’ shares.”

5) Instead of saying, “I am a women’s rights activist,” say, “I am a seeker of lady humans’ shares.”

This way, God willing, you will not be pursued and may not even need bail.
