In these cold days and nights, when I’m at home, I often place my chair close to the gas heater. I take my tablet and browse through the content of groups and channels on Telegram, or I get absorbed in reading my favorite book. This activity sometimes lasts for hours.
When I need to go to the bathroom, since our home’s bathroom is located at the corner of the yard, in the southeast area, in this extremely cold weather, I prefer to wear warm clothing when stepping out of the room.
In the yard, when I feel the hit of the cold air on the skin of my face, I remember the solitude of confinement.
In the solitary cell, our dining area, bedroom, living room, bathroom, and all of our life’s furnishings were contained within a space of about seven square meters.
In solitary confinement, whenever we wanted to use the toilet, all we needed to do was step forward; we didn’t even have to bother with opening and closing the toilet door or pushing aside a curtain.
Our toilet had no door, no curtain, but it did have a toilet stone. For every toilet, the most important thing is the toilet stone.
The cockroaches and baby cockroaches inside the toilet stone, seeing our condition and understanding our situation, rarely intruded into our lives, and in a mutual understanding, we also rarely bothered to kill them and their young. However, the lice in our clothes did not reach such a level of understanding or wisdom, laying eggs wherever they deemed suitable.
It was there that I became acquainted with lice and their eggs for the first time. Lice lay about twenty eggs in one place. Lice eggs are very small and white in color.
Sunlight is effective for killing lice. Only on Thursdays, for a duration of fifteen minutes, we had a chance to be in the open air and could be exposed to sunlight.
