On the Verge of Arbaeen
To the Honorable Ayatollah Khamenei, Leader of Muslims Worldwide
After salutations and with respect,
I extend my condolences to you in advance for the Arbaeen of the martyrdom of the leader of the free. Based on the religious duty of enjoining good and forbidding wrong, I advise you to adhere to the following points.
1) If you, with any intention, spend from the public funds for the crowdedness of the Arbaeen ceremony—for example, by obligating the government, municipalities, and other organizations to pay funds—you must ensure the people’s satisfaction with this action. Otherwise, you have committed a forbidden act in pursuit of a recommended one.
This is akin to climbing the wall of someone’s house, stealing, and using the money obtained to hold a mourning ceremony for Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). Do you think this is correct, and would Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) approve of this action?
2) Two years ago, in my twenty-first letter, I also requested that on the verge of Arbaeen, when Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) and the other oppressed captives of Sham have been freed and are honored with meeting their companion, you also release Mrs. Narges Mohammadi and other political prisoners who have strived for humanity and human rights based on their conscience so they may return to their families.
Perhaps the prayers of these innocents and their families will be the cause of your government’s endurance.
